Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working for NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. Mitchell graduated with an undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell began her career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. Mitchell joined CBS subsidiary WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. In the following two years, she became general correspondent for NBC News in Washington. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was appointed chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs correspondent at NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV program Meet the Press and also was the host for the show. She served as a panelist in the debates for president in 1988, between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her contribution in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell worked in news from the White House first for NBC News between 1981-1988, in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. She covered a myriad of important stories like weapons control, the budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra saga. She was frequently in the company of President Reagan for summits with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world presidents.
